Vic Salvador Announces Candidacy for Ward 3 City Marshal

Vic Salvador announced his candidacy for Ward 3 City Marshal at a campaign kick-off event on Thursday, August 9. He officially qualified on July 18 for the upcoming November 6 election. This is Salvador’s first run for public office.

Raised in Lake Charles, Salvador is a graduate of Barbe High School and McNeese State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He has completed numerous law enforcement training programs, including the FBI National Academy, Calcasieu Parish Regional Law Enforcement Academy and FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Command College.

Salvador has dedicated his entire 30-year career to law enforcement. In that time, he held various leadership positions in the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, including Chief Civil Deputy; Commander of Corrections; Captain of the Investigation Division, Crime Scene, Records and Narcotics; Violent Crime Task Force; Patrol Deputy and Detective; and Corrections Officer. He also served as Deputy Marshal for the Ward 3 City Marshal’s Office. Salvador recently left the Sheriff’s Office in order to run for Marshal after working for the past 14 years in the Command Staff for Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso.

The Ward 3 City Marshal provides security for Lake Charles City Court, serves orders issued by the court—such as garnishments, repossessions and evictions, and executes arrest warrants issued by the court. In addition to carrying out these duties, if elected, Salvador plans to cap the Marshal’s salary, improve deputy training and enhance services provided to the community.

Salvador is an active member of the FBI National Academy Associates, Louisiana Sheriff’s Association (LSA), McNeese Alumni Association, McNeese Petrochem Athletics Association, McNeese Quarterback Club, Kiwanis Club and St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church. He also served on the LSA Warden’s Conference Training Committee. He has been married to Cinnamon Salvador for 20 years and has one daughter, Lauren.

Ward 3 covers the greater Lake Charles area to include west of 397 and Ward Line Road, north of Cameron Parish Line and east of the lakes and river with a population of over 97,000.
